This company is an old and charming family factory nestled in the countryside, in the middle of the olive trees on the road to Sillians la Cascade. Created in the 1850s by Jean Sismondini’s great-grandfather, it proved perfect for the current manager who wanted to escape city life in order to return to the land, back to the peace and quiet of a place fragranced with wood-burning smells. Indeed the company is one of the last companies in Salernes to use a wood-burning oven.

Jean Sismondini is a true one-man-band: he happily goes from the production chain (he’s mastered it all) to the company’s administrative and sales management. The other three employees all work in the production process.

Here, production is exclusively reserved to terracotta floor tiles of varying dimensions and shapes.
The clay is meticulously prepared and washed with spring water. The tiles are made according to age-old techniques, worked with mallets into iron moulds before being fired in a 150 year old oven.
The company Terres cuites Sismondini is the essence of mother nature’s generosity since its products are authentic, true, simple and natural.

Besides its range of products, the company offers an additional tiling and floor treatment service, which is essential for giving the tiles the best possible patina.
Most of the clientele is made up of individual customers originating from the region.
The company has also managed to secure a few historical monument clients, from the Saint Maximin basilica to listed sites in Aix-en-Provence.
