Carrelages Louis Trichard was set up at the beginning of the 20th century to produce traditional floor tiles. In the 1960s, the company expanded its product range to stippled-finish terracotta and then enamelled terracotta tiles in the 1980s, when electric and gas ovens permanently replaced the ancient wood-burning ovens.
In 1985, the third generation took the helm with the arrival of Pierre Trichard to head the company.
Pierre Trichard is dynamic and innovative and as soon as 1986, he goes into customised motifs as well as painted and sponged "patinas" using a technique, which superimposes shades for each colour. He also carries out a permanent search for new colours.
This company considers Salernes clay as the best material to uphold the quality of the product.
A specialised technique is used to obtain this quality: the clay is de-aerated by outgassing. An 85-ton hydraulic press takes care of the precision cutting and the creation of large, quality tiles.
The products are distributed locally by the Salle d'Exposition, and across France through an large network of quality retailers/distributors, in order to give access to the largest number of customers.
Pierre Trichard is very enthusiastic about the profession and its development; he campaigns for his trade to be carried out in accordance with environmental as well as health and safety regulations.
