Carrelages Louis Sette was created by its owner, Louis Sette, who built his enamelled terracotta factory on a parcel of land bought in 1988. The old painter-decorator embarks with passion on this professional adventure and learns the techniques of the trade. This was a daring but successful step: he quickly finds his place among the many professionals already settled in the valley, who have been working clay for generations.

Years later, he decides to go into enamelled lava. He purchases a quarry in Volvic in 1997 and learns to master this new material. Heavy personal and financial sacrifices had to be made in order to equip his company with increasingly high-performance ovens and machinery and to give his 14 employees specialised training.

Indeed, lava stone requires very specific manufacturing techniques. It is the only stone, which can be enamelled and baked a number of times at 1000°, and it can be given a very natural finish with a "natural enamel", leaving all of the material’s bumps and rough edges apparent. It can also be ‘semi-filled’, ‘smoothed’ or ‘patinated’ for a very contemporary feel.
This material is less likely to crack in the frost and now replaces marbles and granite for decorative purposes, thanks to the infinite possibilities it offers in terms of format, shape, colours, and uses. These include floor, wall or chimney coverings, basin worktops, shower trays, kitchen worktops, counters, tables, facades, swimming pools, advertising spaces, etc...

In the decoration workshop, artists create made-to-measure objects thanks to original motifs, akin to real pictorial works of art.
